6 MONTHS!

I made it to 6 months of locking freeform. When I first started, I wasn't sure I would have them in for that long. And now I realize that 6 months is such a short time, and I'm looking forward to the years to come. Anyway, here are the few pics. Oh, by the way, yes, the smile is fake, but believe me, I look much better smiling.

I was trying to show in that last pic how much of my hair is locked. Maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of each lock is locked. I still see lots of afro, but it's obvious to all by now that my hair is locking. Do you think that if I say that I'm being patient enough times, my hair would actually start to look like locks from the front?

Hi Angela, I see you are familiar with Tai and how he started his locs. They look gorgeous and are certainly locs to be drooled over. Hope you manage to be patient and not cut them and I`m sure yours will look as equally as nice. There`s a couple of other men too that freeform and their locs are just a few years old but you can certainly see that they will be as nice if not nicer than manicured ones.

thanks for stopping by my album dear. We are 6 months in and I might as well put those pics of mine on an April album. Can you tell your hair is a world of a difference from when you first started? Even 3 months? I can really truly see your locks deary. You are going to have a headful of small freeforms in a matter of no time. It's all smooth sailing from now on. You are over the hump. I see how much of it is locked on the ends and watch how easy it will be for them to find their way up to the scalp. Just an amazing process to occur with hair. I am always amaazed at how it transforms. Looking forward to your next post.

Angela:

I admire you so much.

I really do.

I did not start my dreads by freeforming but decided to maybe 3 months into the process.

You have such a beautiful page and spirit - please continue sharing with us.

Blessings.

@ kathryn

Yes, definitely familiar with Tai. His advice has greatly helped me. You know, I am patient now, and am sure that I will not cut. Looking forward to how they will be in the years to come.

@ tam

Yep, your hair is the stuff. :-)Thanks for your encouragement, sis. It's very nice to hear. I can definitely see the difference in my hair from even 3 months ago. You know, I am looking at my locks, and I don't think they are going to be quite as small as I originally wanted (I was going for Tai's friend Charl's size). But that's okay, because I love my locks for what they are. And you're right, it's very stress free right now, I'm just enjoying the ride.

@ mechelle

Thanks for your kind words. It still amazes me that there are some who admire me, just because I know where I came from, and how I used to be. Oh, also I've been to your fotki, and I love your locks!

Ok see I may have to go back and check out Charl's because yours seem to look noticeably smaller than hers. I thought mines were more along her size. Most of them anyway. It's not an accurate assumption because mine hasn't condensed all the way but in the pics, Charl's looks to be close to Tai's size. What I can say I found to be true is I've noticed that on a given dread of mine, there are parts that are stil puffy but then I can run my finger up and down and locate a really condensed tight section which leads me to believe that mine will probably end up being smaller than the current size/thickness

Eh ... you could be right. For some reason I was thinking that they would somehow thicken up because the base of the lock seems thicker. Also, the ones in the back just seem thicker to me.

Okay, you want to know the secret to freeform locks? Here it is;
1.)Wash your hair daily using a circular motion with both hands, from the center of the nape of the neck to the forhead to the ears and back to the neck.

2.)Rinse in the same way.
You will feel the locks tightening.

3.)Do not towel dry your hair, just shake the water out. Let it air dry.

I wish I had more time in a day!

Does it really matter, that circular motion? I've never really done it that way.
